Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous changes reverberate through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Content
Players who finish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
