Paceman Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Problems.
'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.
Gus Atkinson further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the ground early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.
The pace bowler pulled up with his hamstring after the final ball in his spell at the MCG.
The touring camp stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and required time off the field for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The final Test of the series in Sydney starts this coming Sunday.
England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was brought into the squad to provide backup.
The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.
He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.
Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, then making 28 while batting as one of just three England players to get into double digits.
Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.
However, on the final ball of that over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and immediately felt for his hamstring.
The English bowler returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
