Qatar's Sprint Race and Grand Prix Qualifying: Live Coverage

Preamble

The author is arriving soon to guide you through this day's short race (14:00 GMT) and grid-setting session (18:00 GMT).

Current Events

Warm-Up Lap Time

The formation lap has begun.

Circuit Details

We have nineteen laps around the lengthiest track in F1, the commentator informs us.

Final Moments

The last moments is underway.

Racer Positions

One point in Verstappen's advantage: his teammate Tsunoda is ahead of him by one place. He is unlikely to interfere with the team's lead driver.

Interview Updates

Sky speaking with Sky now: the analyst is at the Mercedes team.

Karun Chandhok is looking forward to 2026, speaking with the engineer about his stepping up to the team team principal.

Starting Positions

There are only sixteen vehicles on the grid. This followed another bad qualifying for Lewis Hamilton: following his result of 20th and last in the previous race, leading to an eighth position in the grand prix, he did not manage to make it out of Q1 once more on Friday. Ferrari have consequently adjusted to his car configuration and so he begins from the pit lane.

The team's Lance Stroll and the Alpine pair of Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all starting from the same position.

Racer Statements

"We take the learning for the next day," states Hadjar, starting eleventh. Expect a lot of that.

Constructors' Championship

The focus isn't solely on the drivers' title: McLaren have dominated the constructors' gong but the team, with a forty-point advantage over Red Bull, will be hoping to seal second place this weekend. George Russell can help them achieve that from second place, and Antonelli will begin immediately after the leader.

Past Performance

Oscar Piastri was victorious then – as he did the previous season, as well. The driver from McLaren is attempting a hat-trick.

Short Race Importance

Alright, just over twenty minutes to go till the short race begins. Barring disaster, its main importance is as an indication of future events, instead of highly important in its own right, with only eight points available to the winner. However, the runner-up spot in this race was sufficient for the driver to claim the title in a prior season.

Max Verstappen wins F1 world title after his teammate's accident of Qatar GP sprint race.
