The goalkeeper Not a save to perform before the break but then forced to intervene from an opponent's curling effort. His sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker demonstrated sharp game intelligence. 6/10

The defender Pushed into midfield when in possession, as he has done before. At times seemed hesitant in possession and the experiment was shelved at half-time. Six

Dan Burn Always dangerous from dead balls, typically, but may be an alternative for Stones at the back as opposed to paired with him. A loose pass after the break almost led to the first goal for Albania. 6/10

The young full-back Another assured display from the rising star after his initial appearance versus Serbia. A teammate was unable to take full advantage of an exquisite touch behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure at this stage. Seven

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. Somewhat loose on the ball though his dangerous corners were a threat. An effective tempo-setter for the manager to have versus defensive opponents. Booked after a reckless tackle. 6

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and free-kicks created chances. Was given freedom to roam down the left flank but was offside as the pass came in shooting positions. Granted a deserved substitution after an hour. 6

The star midfielder Functioned in an advanced role down the right and contributed with the hard yards. Demonstrated flashes of quality and dragged a shot wide. Withdrawn late on by a teammate, his rival, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his strike well saved from the Albanian keeper. As Quansah hanging back, he had to offer an outlet down the right side yet his deliveries from wide areas were hit and miss. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. 6

Harry Kane The match-winner with his 77th and 78th goals for his country. His first a typical poacher’s finish while the second a superb finish with his head after peeling away away from the opposition. At 32, he’s only getting better with the national team stand a real opportunity next summer when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play on the left flank. Had a good opening after being played in by the midfielder however the keeper kept it out. His replacement made much more of an impact in his place. Five
