The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
