Zero McKenna Celtic FC Discussions as Bellamy Commits to Welsh National Team
Kieran McKenna and Wales head coach have been connected with the Celtic vacancy
The Championship club's their manager says he has had "no discussions" with the Glasgow club about their coaching position, while Welsh head coach the former striker is committed to seeing out his squad's international campaign.
Each are being considered with the coaching position at the Scottish champions following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.
McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club
The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.
The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.
"There have been any of those discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.
"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is this week.
"I possess a special job here at a special team. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Anything external hasn't touched my radar."
Context and Agreement Aspects
Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.
"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to go around and declare what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."
The coach signed a new four-year contract in last year and was asked about his alleged buyout clause.
"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!
"I approach this job like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."
Bellamy's Position
Bellamy played for Celtic on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to finish the current global tournament campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position.
Wales are presently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.
Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, even if they not finish as Group J second place.
Given his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until following the play-offs at the earliest.
